Rivers North Fishing Report

Cold Snap

May 11th, 2020

Burr, it’s been an unseasonably cold start to May to say the least. Water temps are much below average due to the downright frigid temps we have been experiencing across the UP region. Water levels have dropped on many rivers from spring flows and some Steelhead are still available. Most fish at this point are dropback fish, as they make their way back to the Great Lakes. A few Blue Winged Olives have been flying around on the sunny days briefly, but that is about all for insect activity so far. A nice warm up is forecasted in a few days, that should bump up water temps and get resident Trout a bit more active. Near shore Great Lakes fishing has been good, but recent high winds has limited opportunities. Fishing has been good for a mixed bag of species weather permitting.
