RIVERS NORTH UPPER PENINSULA FISHING REPORT!

AK-Off Da Grid

August 29th, 2014

To say the Alaska trips were good fishing would be an understatement, the crew at Alaska Fly Anglers put together more killer fishing.  Trophy rainbow trout were there & everyone got it done in a big way.  All the anglers that went had quite the experience as the bears were out in force feeding heavily on the sockeyes that were everywhere.  If you are considering an alaska fishing adventure, better contact us to get signed up.  These trips have been filling rapidly nearly 1 year in advance as this is the real Alaska adventure, no foo foo lodges & bullshit here-just great fishing on pristine rivers.  Thanks to John H & the crew for another great trip…..

Sweet Summertime

August 24th, 2014

The heat of summer, right?!!!  Seems like someone forgot to actually turn the heat up this summer, our cold weather trend has continued all summer long!  Smallmouth bass fly fishing has provided some good fishing lately here in the Upper Peninsula.  Some areas have offered some good numbers of fish, while others seem to be much lower than normal. Both top water & subsurface patterns have been productive as you just have to feed the fish what they want.  The toothy fish have been eating as well, keep casting & set the hook hard!!  Also, our annual Alaska trips just arrived back to the lower 48-so stay tuned for some sweet pics on our next fishing report. Another year of filthy awesome fishing :)

Officially Summer in da U.P.!

August 4th, 2014

It’s mid summer here in the U.P. & it’s the time of the year that yoopers embrace! The weather doesn’t get any better & fishing opportunities abound. Water temps are still a bit below average, but we are getting much closer to normal at this point of the game. Some areas of the Upper Peninsula are in dire need of rain as they haven’t seen much precip since June. Other parts of the region have stream levels at a normal level & running very clear. A nice variety of species are available right now accross the Upper Peninsula for the fly angler. The St.Marys has Atlantic Salmon & surprisingly a few Steelehad still availble (very odd)-water temps are warming so please use caution w c&r. Inland streams and lakes accross the U.P. are offering good opps for resident Trout as well as warm water species at this time.
