RIVERS NORTH UPPER PENINSULA FISHING REPORT!

Back from the bush

August 26th, 2015

Back from Alaska in a big way, the crew this year scored some serious inches on the native Rainbow Trout front. The egg bite was on hard & the resident Trout were taking advantage of the buffet line. Props to all our anglers as most scored the largest Trout of their life, a pretty BIG deal. August Fly Fishing in Michigan’s U.P.

August 19th, 2015

Whew, some relief from the last heat wave!  I have to say that I will never complain about the heat, it is much more pleasant than the polar plunge of Feb that isn’t too far off!  The warm weather brought some great fly fishing opps over the entire U.P. region, both coldwater & warmwater species where into eating.  Currently our temps have dropped & we are under a more normal weather pattern.  Many streams are seasonably low, however some rains are in the forecast which will help out.  Congrats to our anglers on some stellar fish this past week, some firsts on the fly for the crew which is a BIG deal!

Sweet Summer time in the U.P.!

August 8th, 2015

August in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, one of my personal favorite months of the season here for so many reasons.  Warm long days & a variety of both warm and cold water fishing opportunities.  Smallmouth, Pike & Muskie fishing has offered some good opportunities here lately with both surface and subsurface flies.  Water temps range right now from 60-mid 70 degree range, this varies widely.  Small spring creeks have also been productive for those looking to chase native Brook Trout, some terrestrials as well as attractor dry flies have been working well.  The St.Marys River has some Atlantic Salmon opps as well, conditions continue to be day to day.

Congrats to our guests on some remarkable fish lately, keep casting & good things happen…
