Atlantic Salmon fishing has the St.Marys River here in the U.P. remains strong as fish numbers are still increasing! This past week we were boating fish that have been in the river for some time, as well as fresh fish. Take a look @ the one close up pic of the male Atlantic Salmon-already beginning to get a "bottlenose" spawning characteristic. Pretty unique! Both streamers and nymphs have been productive-but most fish are keying in on nymphs. Some Hex have been beginning to show up as water temps reach the 60 degree mark. Hex should be increasing daily for the next week or so. Good fishing should exist on the St.Marys for some time as the weather should stay stable & water temps won’t raise drastically. This week we are back in the central U.P. targeting resident Trout-water levels/temps are great for this time of the summer due to a more normal year of precipitation/temps & fishing has been nothing short of stellar. Cahills & Caddis are the primary bugs up top & Trout have been very willing to take streamers & nymphs subsurface! Some remaining good dates for the St.Marys still exist as well as mid summer Trout fishing here in the central U.P.-head up for a well deserved vacation!
