Rivers North Fishing Report

Last days of Summer in the U.P.

August 27th, 2024

The calendar says summer is coming to an end, but the thermometer seems to have a different idea! It’s been awfully hot here recently in Michigan’s upper peninsula, yesterday we hit the lower 90° range, which is quite possibly the hottest weather of our summer!

Low water conditions exist across the region, but some very good fishing opportunities have been present. Our focus has been primarily on warm water species recently, but the big water of the Great Lakes has also been providing some fun times.

Smallmouth bass, pike, walleyes and muskies have been active on the rivers across the upper peninsula. Top water as well as sub surface patterns have been producing some excellent days. The cloudier days have been the best opportunity for the top water fishing. Lake trout fishing on Lake superior has been very good, fish have been active most in the early morning hours and dusk. Some excellent size trout have been available this summer!

Many thanks to all of our recent guests, it’s been great spending time on the water with you! Drop us a line to reserve your date for fall, some excellent opportunities ahead of us here on the streams in Michigan’s upper peninsula!
