July 3rd, 2008Atlantic Salmon fishing here on the St.Marys River in the U.P. has been good this past week as water temps have warmed slightly & a good amount of aquatic insects are present. A variety of bugs such as Caddis, BWO’s & midges have been providing for a change in the diet versus the baitfish the Atlantics have been keyed into for some time. Some great fish came to the net this week making for some lifelong memories! More heavy storms have come through over the past few days-river levels across the U.P. are rising & staining a bit. This rain we have received this year is great for resident Trout populations & Lake Superior water levels. Trout fishing remains very good across the U.P.-lots of options this time of the year! Salmo Salar & wild Trout-sounds like a good time to head to the U.P.!
