Spring Melt

April 2nd, 2015

Our spring melt off is under a trickle charge as this is a slow start to spring fishing here in the Upper Peninsula.  Cold nights have minimized run off and stream levels are low/cold for the most part.  Today we have some unseasonable warm weather which should provide some nice melt off, then back to the 30 degree range tomorrow.  Once the ground unfreezes water levels will rise & water temps will also climb, this might take some time w this weather pattern!  Currently there are a few Steelhead in the U.P. rivers, most of which are winter fish.  Also, a few holdover lake run Brown Trout are still around which make for happy anglers :)
